Frequently Asked

Due to Kimberly's severe and life-threatening health issues, Rattie Love Rescue will be going on a hiatus until further notice. All rats are spoken for, no rats are left. Thank you!

Is Rattie Love Rescue a shelter?

No, we are an in-home, private rescue. Rattie Love Rescue is run out of our home. We do not have a separate building. Perhaps in the distant future, we can do this!

Is Rattie Love Rescue a registered 501(c)3 non-profit?

Not at this time, no. We hope to become one in 2008, and are looking for help from a lawyer who wishes to help us at low or no cost! We are, however, a not-for-profit in that we loose much more money then we gain.

Where does Rattie Love Rescue get the money to run?

Surrender and adoption donations, other donations, our "stores" online and fundraisers. The rest (most) comes out of our (Kimberly and Jenny) pocket.

How successful are adoptions at Rattie Love Rescue?

So far, we've done pretty good! Most animals have found homes within a few months or less. Obviously, since we take in rats no matter what physical or emotion problems they have, special-needs rats may stay with us longer, or permanently.

Do you work with aggressive and biter rats?

Yes! We've done pretty well with the grumpy rats and have even successfully re-homed a few. We will attempt to rehabilitate them, and may sputer them to curb hormones. If all else fails, they will stay with us, unless a very experienced rat-person wants to take them on.

How can I start a rat rescue?

We've gotten this a lot! We hope to write up an article soon. Until then, feel free to contact us with questions.
